Jimmy Gorecki’s Vans Chukka Pays Homage to Philly’s LOVE Park

Jimmy Gorecki’s brand JSP (formerly known as Jimmy Sweatpants) is collaborating with Vault by Vans on the release of a special edition Chukka. The shoe pays tribute to LOVE Park, the Philadelphia landmark known as one of the most historically significant spots in skateboarding, that is before the city did major reconstruction work, replacing its hardscape terrain with “tourist-friendly” greenery.

Gorecki’s favorite Vans style, the Chukka, is the blueprint for the link up between the two. Coming in two colors, a white and a black pair, the details of the shoe are what set it off. Premium materials like the thick suede upper covers the shoe in solid color. The thick sole is white with a nice red and white checkerboard that is accentuated by classic Philadelphia motifs from local artist Joe Lees. Items like the ‘215’ area code, ‘JSP’, ‘Love’, and ‘Philly!’ in graffiti style pay homage to LOVE Park in all of its glory. A rubberized ice blue toe cap and waffle outsole rounds out the shoe’s design. As a final touch, the shoebox features a dedication to seminal Philly skater and Gorecki’s close childhood friend JR Neves, who passed away in 2009.

The JSP x Vans Chukka 79 LX “A LOVE Story” will release on February 10th on the Standard Issue Tees webshop, as well as in store and online at Lapstone & Hammer and Nocturnal Skate Shop. The locations selected are both special to Gorecki for the opportunity to work with other Philly brands, Nocturnal being Gorecki’s first sponsor.
