Nike, Virgil Abloh, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago have unveiled their redesigned basketball facilities at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boys and Girls Club location in East Garfield Park. Virgil and Nike previously connected on the creation of the NikeLab Chicago Re-Creation Center, a space for young creatives to receive mentorships, workshops and enroll in programs to fuel their creativity.
Abloh has been known to advocate for Chicago’s youth and this time gives back to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago by renovating and redesigning the club’s entrance, basketball court, locker rooms, and multipurpose room. Nike is also launching the Nike All-Star Academy, which includes programs to develop on-court skills, as well as hands-on learning in sport design, sport science, and sports journalism.
The court features bright bold colors of blue and green, backdropped by a wall mural created by local artist Max Sansing. Check out photos of the space below.
