Original Story (10/02/20): Internationally famous boxer and model Younes Bendjima’s Studio FY7 has a collaborative New Balance 992 on the way.
The 992 has had a massive year thus far, seeing high profile and incredibly well-received collaborations with brands like WTAPS, Packer, JJJJound, and more; however, the vast majority of these collaborations have used muted earth tones and rich, gentle colors to make their mark. Studio FY7’s model appears to buck this trend slightly, as a first look/teaser picture posted by Bendjima last week showcases a cream, black, and white 992. The shoe’s 992 tongue branding is replaced by “FY7,” but the collaboration otherwise lets the heritage running model do the talking.
While very little information is available thus far, we do know that the shoe is set to release sometime this month, October 2020. Update (10/20/20): Additional info on the release of the Studio FY7 x New Balance 992. This serves as the fourth and final launch product dropped by Studio FY7 to mark the opening of their agency. The drop will be limited to 250 pairs and will be available exclusively on STUDIOFY7.com on October 22nd 24th, 12PM Pacific Time on a first come, first serve basis. Good luck!
Update (10/05/20): Studio FY7 provides another look at its New Balance 992 collab, the inspiration behind the shoe, and some release info. Here’s what FY7 said about the shoe in a recent IG post:
“The suede outer shoe serves as a reflection of the colouration and curvature of the dunes of southern Algeria, which is contrasted by black circular cutaways that symbolize the ancient architecture of Ghardaïa – which heavily influenced the work of Le Corbusier.
The shoe is a reminder that no matter where you walk in the world, you can, and should, be proud to carry your history and heritage wherever you go.”
