The number one overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson, has signed with Jordan Brand to be sportswear brand’s latest ambassador. He’ll be joining a family of 50-plus athletes across multiple sports, which includes other young talent such as Jayson Tatum, Rui Hachimura, WNBA players Asia Durr and Kia Nurse, and NFL rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

All eyes have been on Zion since his high school basketball days; his size and talent made him the most promising athlete since LeBron James. Once Zion joined the NBA, many wondered which brand would scoop up the young star’s sneaker contract.

“I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Jordan Brand family,” says Williamson. “Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had and continues to have today. He was one of those special athletes I looked up to, and I really can’t express how happy and excited I am for this journey.”

Michael Jordan himself had some words to say about the incoming rookie: “Zion’s incredible determination, character and play are inspiring. He’s an essential part of the new talent that will help lead the brand into the future. He told us he would ‘shock the world,’ and asked us to believe him. We do.”

The terms of the deal have not been revealed, so it’s not certain whether Zion will wear sneakers from the numbered Air Jordan line or if the Pelicans rookie will get his own Zion line of sneakers. We’re sure Zion will ball out no matter what sneakers he wears.
