Since the release of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 in October 2007, fans have long anticipated the next installment in the video game franchise. The wait for Half-Life 3 has been so long, that numerous conspiracy theories of its release have arisen throughout the years, spawning the “Half-Life 3 confirmed” meme. Today, Valve announced the latest installment in the Half-Life series, and while it’s not Half-Life 3, we’re still pretty stoked.

Set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Alyx is a new full-length game built from the ground up by Valve for virtual reality. The game centers around player-character Alyx Vance, humanity’s only survival against the vicious alien race known as the Combine.

With VR gameplay, you can completely immerse yourself in deep environmental interactions, puzzle solving, world exploration, and visceral combat. Once released, you’ll be able to play Half-Life: Alyx with any SteamVR-compatible system, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality.

Half-Life: Alyx is scheduled to release in March 2020 and is already available for pre-purchase on Steam. Check out the announcement trailer below.
