Virgil Abloh is at it again. A save-the-date from Louis Vuitton was sent to select guests for a cocktail in Paris on January 22. No biggie. On the invitation was an almost infrared-looking basketball court with a glowing LV monogram in the middle. So what exactly does this mean?
Here’s what we know for sure: a game-changing collaboration is in the works between the Parisian fashion house and the NBA. The official announcement will come before the Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks face off at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on January 24th, a first for the French capital. Nike is rumored to have a couple sneakers lined up for the occasion.
Louis Vuitton partnered with streetwear brand Supreme in 2017, collaborated with League of LegendsĀ in September, and made plenty of connections in between. Although this isn’t the first time Louis Vuitton has partnered with the sports world, it does mark a somewhat final transfiguration trailblazed by Virgil Abloh to blend luxury with other industries.
Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for details as they’re announced.
