Nike officially unveils the 2013 Year of the Snake Collection. The Chinese new year is upon us and with that brings a celebration and Nike has chosen to do that in a big way. The official collection boasts 8 pieces (mambas original number) and all will be themed around the serpent that is that animal of the year. Hit the jump for detailed photos as well as info on the entire lineup.
Things start off with 3 versions of the Zoom Kobe 8 including a special off court version of the shoe. The ZK8 “Black Mamba” embraces Kobe’s nickname and seamlessly translate his slick movements into buckets, all while dressed in black snakeskin throughout. The ZK8 “Danger” features a red Engineered Mesh upper forged in a came print and was chosen to be bright red in order to alert on comers to the impending destruction ahead. The Zoom Kobe 8 “EXT” is an off court example for the mamba to relax in, choosing to swap out performance intended EM for a more casual Vac-Tech upper that features blue and gold accenting against a predominantly red upper that reminds people to still proceed with caution despite mamba being away from the dojo.
The Air Force 1 collection also features a 3 pack of shoes to celebrate the special year. The pack features ene high and two low versions paying homage to the Chinese new year in different ways. The Air Force 1 Low CMFT is the more colorful option receiving a red upper with alternating snake to suede paneling. The outsole and liner use purple as a contrast and all of this sits on a very unique snake skin midsole. The Air Force 1 High CMFT version features mostly black for the base, but uses an authentic looking snake print for the toe box. Black and blue snake print makes up the mid panel and strap, while a red snake is used for the Swoosh. The pack comes complete with a Nike Air Force 1 Foamposite that is dressed in a 100% black snake upper that is sure to make you moan — in a good way.
The final two pieces featured a special Nike Zoom Huarache 2k4 and Destroyer Jacket to add some gear to the footwork. The 2k4 boasts some authentic details like in the rear of the shoe, which shows off a menacing pair of snake eyes (no dice). The all red shoe is accompanied by red snakeskin on the toe cap and heel, as well a set of fangs that peek out of the air ducts that are a staple of the 2k4 design. The Destroyer Jacket is black with hits of purple and gold, and features the writing “YEAR OF THE BLACK MAMBA” on the weatherproof strip.
