Original Supreme NYC Location Closes After 25 Years

James Jebbia first opened the original Supreme location in New York’s SoHo neighborhood in April 1994. Now after 25 years, the retail space on Lafayette Street has officially closed for good.

In February 2019, Supreme announced that they would be closing their Lafayette St. location temporarily for renovations and relocating to 190 Bowery in the meantime. It seems like somewhere between February and now, plans for the OG location’s first major renovations were scrapped. While the red Supreme banner still hangs high, “Space For Lease” signs have appeared on the windows of the OG location, confirming that Supreme will no longer be occupying the space at 274 Lafayette Street.

It is unclear why Supreme chose to not move forward with the renovations. The more spacious 190 Bowery location will continue to operate as Supreme’s permanent NYC location.
