adidas Originals has announced the first drop from a new collaborative project with Craig Green centered on experimentation in design. Sneakers from the upcoming collection first debuted at Craig Green’s Men’s Spring/Summer 2020 show during London Fashion Week in June 2019.
Craig Green is a prominent London based menswear designer who is known for combining functionality with design ingenuity and a freedom to experiment. Two new styles are introduced in this collab, the CG Kontuur I and CG Kontuur II, a remaking of two classic adidas silhouettes: the Kamanda and Ozweego.
One of Green’s key concepts when creating the CG Kontuur I and CG Kontuur II was to replicate the sole into the upper of its silhouettes. The toe box of the CG Kontuur I features perforations on it, as if punctured by its Kamanda sole. The deep-quilted stitch lines of the CG Kontuur II echo the design of its Ozweego midsole.
The first drop of adidas Originals by Craig Green launches globally on January 31st. The CG Kontuur I will be available in black and navy, while the Kontuur II will be available in black and grey. More styles will be released in a future drop later in the season. Check out the campaign images below, which feature sculptures created by Green’s long-term collaborator, Dan Tobin Smith.
