In celebration of International Women’s Day, adidas Skateboarding announces the release of new styles of the Gazelle ADV and Samba ADV created by its pro riders Nora Vasconcellos and Maité Steenhoudt.
Vasconcellos, the first female pro rider for adidas, updates the Gazelle with a predominately white upper, dashes of violet purple to the Three Stripes and the lining, and gum toe on the midsole. Details on the heels include her name in gold foil, as well as her middle name “Gilda” which was also the name of her grandmother. The insoles include a photo of Nora’s mother as a child, whom she credits with helping her turn into who she is today.
In contrasting fashion, Steenhoudt dresses the Samba in mostly black with white stripes for her first collaboration with adidas. The upper consists of hairy suede and features her mother and her grandmother’s birthdays on the collar of the shoe in gold foil. Red detailing dances around the toe box hinting at the red suede hidden underneath that will appear with extensive wear.
The adidas Gazelle ADV by Nora and the Samba ADV by Maité will be available on March 16th via adidas.com/skateboarding, the Confirmed app, and select skate shops.
