Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA has teamed up with Reebok and Foot Locker for his first-ever sneaker collaboration. The three present the “Sky Above The Street” capsule, paying homage to Anuel AA’s hometown of Carolina.
As a lifelong sneaker fan, this is a dream come true for Anuel. Growing up, the Latin trap star could not afford Jordans and other brands, so Reeboks were always in rotation as they were more affordable. The “Sky Above the Street” capsule is meant to inspire those who grew up in similar situations.
The Anuel AA x Reebok capsule is comprised of two silhouettes, the Classic Leather and Pump Omni Zone II. Both come in a red and black color scheme, inspired by the sun-faded vibrant urban neighborhoods and outdoor courts of Puerto Rico. Red and black are also the primary colors of the flag of his hometown of Carolina. In fact, the jacquard-woven underlays feature an ermine tail design inspired directly by the Carolina flag. Additional details include lace jewels in the shape of Anuel’s logo and Real Hasta La Muerte, the name of Anuel’s debut album, printed on the insoles.
To celebrate the release, Anuel AA held a meet-in-greet at Foot Locker in Plaza Las Américas in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday evening. Anuel, Reebok, and Foot Locker, Inc. are also making a donation to SER de Puerto Rico, a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical, therapeutic, and educational services to people with disabilities.
