Benny the Bull Gets New Shoes For His Birthday

Chicago Bulls’ beloved mascot Benny the Bull made his debut in 1969, making him one of the oldest mascots across the NBA and in all of professional sports. As a celebration of his 53rd birthday, Benny will be presented with a new pair of kicks.

Klarna, the global all-in-one shopping service and official shopping partner of the Chicago Bulls, will be surprising Benny (shhh don’t tell him) with new shoes at tonight’s home game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The shoes were designed by Chicago-based artist Chuck Anderson, founder of NoPattern Studio and founding member of the blogging trio THE BRILLIANCE that also includes Benjamin Edgar and the late Virgil Abloh.

“As the Official Shopping Partner of the Chicago Bulls, we’re excited to provide Bulls fans with new ways to express their fandom, helping to bring them closer to the game and team they love,” says Klarna Chief Marketing Officer David Sandstrom. “There’s no more beloved Bulls fan than Benny, and we are honored to take part in elevating his look in collaboration with fellow Chicago-native, Chuck Anderson. This is just the beginning of our partnership with the Chicago Bulls and we look forward to continuing to provide innovative experiences for fans to engage with the team.”

Benny is not the only one who will be receiving a gift tonight. Klarna and Anderson have also created a run of limited edition tees based on the design of Benny’s shoes. Attendees seated in the Klarna fan-section at tonight’s game will find the exclusive tee waiting for them on their seatback. Fans nationwide can also enter Klarna’s online sweepstakes for a chance to score the tee.
