German luxury leather goods brand MCM has tapped 17-year-old singer Billie Eilish for their upcoming Autumn/Winter 2019 campaign to promote a genderless aesthetic.
This campaign comes at a time when the conversation of gender inclusivity within fashion is on the rise. MCM global creative officer Dirk Schönberger spoke about choosing Billie for the campaign, saying “This is such a strong message at a time where uniformity is somehow on the rise. She’s a game-changer: Not only is she disruptive, but it also feels like she can’t be corrupted. It’s not a marketing trick: She is that person. She really stands out in the current music scene.”
The campaign shows the singer sporting a variety of looks, including baggy tracksuits, a leather bucket hat, leather bags, workwear jackets, sweatpants with bulky velcro straps and my personal favorite, a quilted parka. All the looks are paired with MCMs bulky sneakers.
The Autumn/Winter 2019 collection will release on July 18 on the MCM website and select boutiques. In the meantime take a look at the campaign below.
