The radio waves in the early 2000s were ruled by the sounds of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, the production duo known as The Neptunes. Though they never broke up, their output in recent years has been less frequent, with both members focusing more on solo material.
It seems like The Neptunes will be making a big return in 2020. In a new interview with Clash, Chad Hugo shares some info on what he and Pharrell are cooking up:
“I’m focusing on The Neptunes stuff, getting back on The Neptunes grind,” says Hugo. “We’re doing a couple of things. There’s a videogame soundtrack that’s in the works right now that I can’t speak about, I’m not supposed to, but uh, it’s in the works right now. We just did some work with Miley Cyrus, JAY Z, blink-182, Lil Uzi Vert, Brandy, Ray J, Snoh Aalegra, G-Eazy.”
In the interview, Hugo also mentions that they have recently worked with Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa, Kaytranada, and Rex Orange County. Check out the full Clash interview here and expect some new sounds from The Neptunes in 2020.
