Dr. Martens, once a staple for postmen and other workers, has survived decades of upgrades and redesigns. Today, the iconic 1461 shoe is getting another upgrade with the help of A-COLD-WALL*.

After launching a “Graphite” colorway back in August, the two brands reconnect for part two in “Black.” This colorway sits on an icy EVA sole unit, stitched with Dr. Martens’ signature yellow to the black leather upper. Ghillie lacing ties the construction, held with silver metal rivets. Branding comes in the form of a silver foil “A-COLD-WALL*” and a co-branded footbed.

While the silhouette maintains its key components, the latest utilitarian composition of the shoe boasts a socio-political aspect as well. London-based A-COLD-WALL*, known for its luxury menswear, is infusing its own knowledge of working-class heritage. The work shoe adheres to a visual direction of “brutalist architecture,” a common source of inspiration for A-COLD-WALL*’s founder and creative director Samuel Ross.

The 1461 ACW* will launch November 4th at 10am CT on A-COLD-WALL.com. A wider release will follow on November 6th on the Dr Martens website as well as at select retailers.
