Original Story (04/26/20): No silhouette has gotten as much love as the Dunk this year. 2020 started strong with the release of the Strangeloves and Travis Scotts, with more heat still on the way in the form of collaborations with Grateful Dead, Ben & Jerry’s, and Cactus Plant Flea Market. While big-name collabs are cool to see, Nike SB makes sure to regularly show local skate shops love, as demonstrated with this upcoming Instant Skateboards x Nike SB Dunk Low.
Instant Skateboards was founded in 1995 and has four locations in Japan — two in Tokyo and two in Chiba. A first look photo of their Nike SB collab shows a Dunk Low equipped with a vibrant blue leather upper. The toe box comes in white with a cream mudguard overlay, while the Swoosh and heel tab come in black. A skull and crossbones-style logo of a dog and skate trunks appears on the lateral side near the heel.
Since Instant Skateboards is based in Japan, this release is expected to be exclusive to the country, but no actual release info has surfaced as of yet. Check out the Instant Skateboards Nike SB Dunk Low below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more info on this release.

Update (09/12/20): Check out the official announcement from Instant Skateboards below. The shop reveals that these are inspired by Shibuya, a city known for its unique counterculture. The dog on the heel is a reference to the city’s Hachikō statue, which was erected to honor the Japanese Akita dog remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, for whom he continued to wait for over nine years following Ueno’s death.
