Jaden Smith has cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with in the worlds of both music and fashion over the past few years; now, however, he’s venturing into the world of sneakers with a bold opening statement.
Dubbed the NB For Jaden Smith Vision Racer, the actor and musician’s first-ever signature sneaker features sustainable production and vegan-friendly materials wrapped up in a striking package. The Vision Racer’s most impressive feature is its oversized midsole (which was made with partially recycled EVA foam). The shoe features massive rubber panels and a significantly elevated heel atop an icy outsole featuring the model’s name in playful 3D text. This motif is also seen in the piping just above the midsole.
The upper is made of vegan leather alternatives featuring 60% recycled polyester (from post-consumer plastic) and textiles made with 100% recycled material. The tongue, too, features 70% recycled polyester in addition to recycled reflective yarn detailing.
The NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer will launch for $150 in an initial “Wavy Baby Blue” colorway, but additional colorways are expected to follow throughout the rest of 2020. You can pick up the shoe via New Balance’s website as well as select retail locations starting on July 24th.
