The Air Jordan 12 “Indigo” Features a Wear-Away Upper

Original Story (06/24/20): Originally making its debut in 1996, the Air Jordan 12 took visual inspiration from the Japanese rising sun flag (as reflected in the shoe’s stitching patterns.) It was the first Air Jordan model to use Nike’s Zoom Air tech, and the full-length cushioning unit is supported by a carbon fiber springplate.

The Air Jordan 12 is now returning this summer in a “Stone Blue” colorway that appears to be a new take on the OG 1997 “Obsidian.” This iteration of the enduring classic, last released in 2012, sees the model dressed in a similarly regal (though slightly lighter) dark blue upper and a pearly white toe/midsole, the colors contrasting to accentuate the Jordan 12’s raised heel. The new model, however, is rounded out by tonally contrasting blue laces and the silver metal lace loops towards the ankle.

The 2020 Air Jordan 12 “Stone Blue” (also referred to as “Indigo”) is rumored for August 8th at a price of $190. You can take a look at the newly-leaked photos of the model down below; as always, keep it locked to Modern Notoriety for updates.

Update (06/29/20): Jordan Brand has officially revealed this release as part of its Fall 2020 Air Jordan lineup. A card that reads “The Beauty of Imperfection, Fades to Perfection” will come with this Air Jordan 12, a quote referring to the Japanese concept of “Wabi-sabi” as well as the Japanese indigo dye method used on the shoe’s upper.

The indigo blue on the upper will fade over time, giving each pair a unique look. A unique design is said to be hidden underneath. Check out the official images below and stay tuned for updates on this release.
