New Balance 2002R “Refined Future” Pt.2 Gets US Launch

0

In 2021, New Balance launched the 2002R “Refined Future” pack, a distressed version of the 2002R conceptualized by New Balance designer Yue Wu. Sometimes called the “Protection Pack,” these styles became a big hit for the brand and was one of the most sought after GR releases of the year.

The initial trio of colorways saw their US launch exclusively via Extra Butter in-store and online. The lines outside of the Lower East Side and Long Island City locations were the longest ever seen for a New Balance GR release. A year later, New Balance now has a second pack of “Refined Future” 2002Rs on the way, and Extra Butter will once again be getting the exclusive US launch.

Released overseas earlier this year, the second “Refined Future” 2002R pack features styles inspired by iconic colorways in New Balance history. The “Dark Navy” colorway pulls inspo from New Balance’s 57X line, taking its color scheme from releases from the ’80s such as the 574 and 576. The “Mirage Grey” colorway is pulled from the 1300JP, while the “Vintage Orange” pair nods to the New Balance SuperComp released in the late ’70s.

The second New Balance 2002R “Refined Future” pack is set to release via Extra Butter on September 29th. A wider release via the New Balance website is expected to follow. Stay tuned for any additional updates.
