New Balance & Jaden Smith Create a 574 From Surplus Materials

0

Jaden Smith is known for his experimental style, further solidified by his partnership with New Balance. With many colorways of the Vision Racer already under their belt, the two are now teaming up to release a limited edition and eco-friendly version of the 574.

The Jaden 574 sneaker is an ode to sustainability. Its uppers are constructed from 73% surplus materials, 9% recycled content, and 18% virgin materials, while the midsoles utilize standard die-cut EVA. Leathers, mesh, suede and more materials host a variety of vivid colors, providing a blend of tones that’s cohesive in its entirety. This is the second time Jaden and New Balance utilize surplus materials for a collaborative release, following the Vision Racer “Surplus” from 2020. Just like that release, each pair of the Jaden 574 features a unique mix of materials in its construction, making every pair a 1-of-1.

The Jaden 574 pushes New Balance’s agenda to send zero footwear factory waste to landfills by 2025. The brand also teamed up with The Renewal Workshop to create an apparel repair pilot to fight post-consumer waste, aiming to create greater levels of circularity in the fashion industry.

The New Balance x Jaden 574 will be available September 17th, 10am ET via the New Balance and Foot Locker websites.
