Official Look at the Nike Air Trainer 1 SP “Light Smoke Grey”

Original Story (01/10/22): Nike will be releasing a reworked version of the Air Trainer 1 2022, which is currently being called the Air Trainer 1 Utility.

The Air Trainer 1 was introduced in 1987 and was popularized by tennis player John McEnroe, who wore the all-purpose training sneaker during his matches. This upcoming “Utility” version of the Air Trainer 1 adds a hiking aesthetic with features such as a buckle strap on the forefoot, replacing the usual Velcro strap, a pull-tab on the tongue that runs down the laces, and reflective details across the upper. Materials on these have also be revamped, such as the quarter panels now featuring a ripstop-like construction and the toe box made of ballistic mesh.

Colorways for the Air Trainer 1 Utility include a “Light Smoke Grey” pair with Honeydew accents, as well as a “Coriander” pair with Wheat accents. These SKUs were rumored to be associated with the Travis Scott version of the Air Trainer 1, though that is not the case.

Check out the Nike Air Trainer 1 SP “Light Smoke Grey” and official photos of the “Coriander” colorway below. Look for these to drop later this year on SNKRS and at select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for exact release info.
