Original Story (02/11/20): Nike has introduced new members to the Air Zoom family of high performance footwear ahead of this summer’s Olympics Games in Tokyo. The seven models each have their unique specifications that aid performance and agility in sports from ranging from basketball, football, and distance running.

The ZoomX Alphafly NEXT %, Tempo NEXT%, and Tempo Next FE use NEXT% technology to “create more efficient intersections between the body and technology to enable athletes to shatter personal boundaries.” The Alphafly NEXT% adds ZoomX foam and visible Air Zoom pods to increase running performance. The Tempo NEXT% removes the carbon fiber plate from the Alphafly to incorporate a softer feel with the same ZoomX and Air Zoom cushioning. This model also comes in a FlyEase version for easier accessibility for all athletes.

NEXT% technology is also infused in a basketball model with the Air Zoom BB NXT. This basketball sneaker combines React Foam with two Air Zoom units and lightweight mesh to provide support and durability. A plush foam tongue and padded collar also provide support to the Achilles’ tendon for maximized comfort.

Inspired by the Alphafly NEXT%, the Air Zoom Victory features a distance track spike design built with a combination of Nike ZoomX foam, carbon fiber plate and Nike Air Zoom. While the Victory is suited for 800 meter to 10k races, the Viperfly is designed specifically for the 100 meter, the truest test of pure human speed. The spike incorporates an innovative new carbon plate produced by Custom Fiber Placement (CFP), which allows for varying flexibility within the plate.

Lastly, Nike Football introduces the Air Zoom Mercurial concept football boot. It features a Flyprint upper, Nike’s first 3D-printed textile upper in performance footwear that debuted on the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite Flyprint, worn by marathoner Eliud Kipchoge.

The Nike Air Zoom BB NXT has an official July 1st release date, while the rest of the models will make their debut sometime this summer. Check out the collection below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
