There’s no doubt that the primary function of most sneakers is to provide comfort and performance in both sport and lifestyle arenas; however, with the rise of Esports, footwear companies have grappled with how best to make their mark on a field seemingly wholly unsuited to them. Puma has released an expensive “gaming sock,” and Adidas teamed up with Ninja—one of gaming’s biggest figures right now—on a Nite Jogger last year. Nike, however, seems to be taking a more casual and playful approach to paying tribute to the world of gaming.
Dubbed the “Have a Good Game” Blazer, photos of a gaming-oriented redress of one of Nike’s most historically popular models have surfaced. The shoe comes dressed in a primarily white leather upper (as is traditional with the Blazer), but it’s immediately obvious how the shoe is themed: the Swoosh is rendered in an 8-bit pixelated style. Below, the midsole sidewalls display colorful rainbow gradients that allude to the RGB capabilities of many modern gaming peripherals. Arguably the most fun detail, however, is found on the heel. The Blazer’s traditional Nike branding is given a Velcro treatment, allowing the wearer to customize their shoe using provided interchangeable patches. Finally, the shoe is finished off by embroidered “Have a Good Game” branding near the heel and glow-in-the-dark Just Do It logotype all over the upper, allowing you to remain visible during late-night gaming sessions.
There’s no official name or exact release date for the model but expect to see this Blazer make its debut this fall. Check out photos down below and stay tuned for updates.
