Kyrie Irving was spotted on court last night in Los Angeles rocking his next signature Nike shoe, the Kyrie 8.

Now you may be saying, “Hey, the Kyrie 8 came out last year!,” but last year’s model was actually called the Kyrie Infinity. You may remember that Kyrie Irving himself took to social media to denounce the design of the Kyrie Infinity when the shoe first leaked, with his exact words being “in my opinion these are trash.” A week later, Irving apologized for his comments, saying that him and Nike are “diligently working, restructuring, and reimagining things together to make sure we get it right.” Kyrie Irving took to the Instagram comments this morning to confirm this shoe is called the Kyrie 8 and not the Kyrie 9.

The design of the Nike Kyrie 8 doesn’t stray too far from Kyrie’s previous signature models. It features a low-top layered mesh upper paired with a React foam midsole and Air Zoom strobel. Additional details include the name of Kyrie’s mother, Elizabeth Ann Irving, on the toe of the midsole, and the roman numerals for 8, 13, 11, and 23 stitched on the medial heels. The 8 and 13 represent Kyrie’s mom’s birthday (August 13), while the 11 and 23 represent the birthday of his daughter Azurie (November 23).

It’s worth noting that Kyrie Irving paired his Kyrie 8s with a full Nike outfit, save for his Donda Sports shorts. Prior to this, there were already rumors of Irving leaving Nike for Donda Sports once his deal with Nike is over. This will surely add fuel to the flames.

Grab a glimpse at the upcoming Nike Kyrie 8 below. These are slated to drop on November 11th (Kyrie’s favorite number is 11, hence 11/11) on Nike.com and at select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
