Los Angeles streetwear powerhouse RHUDE has teamed up with PUMA for an unconventional take on a PUMA soccer classic.
The RHUDE x PUMA CELL KING is a mashup of Puma’s retro-futuristic CELL cushioning tech and the brand’s classic KING football/soccer boot. Although this combination might seem somewhat unlikely, the result is a shoe that stands out on the streets but nestles comfortably at home in RHUDE’s tradition of reinterpreting Americana fashion and iconography.
While the original KING sits close to the ground and atop turf spikes, RHUDE’s reinterpretation of the model boosts its midsole up and allows for a highly unique and suitably chunky lifestyle runner. The shoe’s upper is made from black quilted synthetic leather, and its beefy toebox gives way to a wide and unpredictable lacing system.
The model’s removable lace covers are retained from the original KING but feature embossed RHUDE branding in place of a PUMA logo. The shoe features an off-white suede PUMA Formstrip on both side panels, and the midsole shows off a creamy, yellowed white that lends significant vintage appeal to the silhouette. Last but not least, the package is tied together with co-branded heel badges and insoles.
