Original Story (03/24/22): Prior to the tragedy that occurred at Astroworld Festival 2021, there were plans between Travis Scott and Nike on releasing a Cactus Jack version of the Air Trainer. A grey colorway and a brown colorway were even put on display at the fest. After taking a look at the “Grey Haze” colorway earlier this week, we now take a deeper look at the brown colorway.

The Travis Scott x Nike Air Trainer 1 “Light Chocolate” comes dressed in various earthy brown hues, some having a slight purple tint to them. The tongue and toe box feature perforated suede construction, while corduroy and other textiles are found throughout the rest of the upper. In terms of branding, we see “CACT.US CORPORATION” on the heels and forefoot straps, a Cactus Corp logo on the tongue (also seen on the Cactus Jack Air Max 1), a standard Swoosh on the lateral side panel, and the signature reverse Swoosh on the medial.

Looking at the outsole, we see another interesting feature. It comes marked with US Patent No. 3793750. This is the patent that Bill Bowerman received in 1974 to create the first waffle-soled Nike trainers. The traction on the Travis Scott Air Trainer 1 is waffle-like, though the pattern is much smaller than on other Nike “Waffle” shoes. Other details that we cannot go without mentioning are the protective shrouds that can be fastened to the snaps built into the uppers, as well as the zippered pockets on the tongue and heel to store said shrouds.

For now, this release is still expected to go down, so expect a drop via SNKRS and select retailers possibly sometime later this year. Grab a detailed look at the Travis Scott x Nike Air Trainer 1 “Light Chocolate” below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
