Tetsu Nishiyama’s WTAPS has had a long history with Vans since their first collaboration back in 2005. With 2022 being WTAPS’ 25th anniversary, the Japanese label is kicking off the celebrations with a Vault by Vans collaboration.
The collaboration features two of Vans’ classic models, the OG Sk8-Hi LX and OG Authentic LX. WTAPS infuses its military aesthetic to the silhouettes, dressing both completely in an olive green color palette. Repeating WTAPS branding and GPS coordinates dress the midsoles, a motif previously seen on 2020’s WTAPS x Vans Vault “GPS” collection. The campaign imagery for the collaboration was shot by Seishi Shirakawa and directed by Akio Hasegawa, the latter employing his signature collage technique, similar to the lookbook for WTAPS x UNDERCOVER.
